Dickebusch New Military Cemetery, Belgium

41st Division arrived in France in May, 1916. They moved to the Somme in October to take part in the major offensive there but by mid October they had been relieved and went north to Ypres

On 15th November, 11th Royal West Surrey (Queens) of 123 Brigade, left their huts in Reninghelst and moved forward to a sector of the front line in the southern part of the Ypres salient. While passing through Dickebusch, two shells fell on a group of men who had stopped to eat their dinners. Five of them were killed, including Alec Barneveld.
